With reference to the article "Poverty ‘forced' Sharourah man to kill wife and kids" (Sept. 2), it's heartbreaking. This man acted out of extreme desperation. Rather than focusing only on jobs for women, how about worrying for the poor men from the tribes who deserve better lives? S, Online response II. One should always think about the teachings of Islam and put them into action. There is no use learning thousands of verses and Hadith without applying them in our lives. We should also take this as a wake-up call and start helping our neighbors, family, colleagues and others. Sharing a pack of bread and a plate of lentil won't break the bank. May Allah give us the opportunity and heart to serve the less fortunate and reward us both, here and in the hereafter. Limaone, Online response III. If the man was so "desperate" why didn't he also kill himself? A man who cares for his wife and children does not murder them! I hope he gets the punishment that he deserves. Shani Badawi, Online response IV. Taking someone else's life is a major sin. Allah has given us life and only He has the right to take it back. Allah can test us with hardships and it seems the man has failed that test. If he had remembered the hardships our beloved Prophet (peace be upon him) and his companions went through, he certainly would not have killed his family. Allah is the Best Judge, Most Forgiving and Most Merciful. Shaker, Online response V. The majority of us has suffered a tough life, but this is no excuse for killing his family. Bravo, Online response VI. This person has no right to kill his family. For a better judgement he should also be killed so he can go to heaven or hell where there is no poverty. N.
