RIYADH — Two Shoura Council female members have put forth a proposal to amend local traffic laws and allow Saudi women to obtain an international driver's license. Latifah Al-Shalan and Haya Al-Manea presented over nine months ago a similar proposal endorsing women's right to drive. Shoura officials are still studying the proposal. Abdullah Al-Alami, who wrote “When will women drive a car?”, said the proposal does not call for allowing women to drive, but actually helps them get their licenses here instead of traveling to nearby countries.
