JEDDAH — Members of the Pakistani community paid glowing tributes and homage to a noted social worker and philanthropist, late Masood Jawaid, at a condolence meeting organized by well-known Pakistani businessman Mumtaz Ahmed Kahloon at Lasani restaurant Friday. The meeting was chaired by Consul General of Pakistan Aftab Ahmed Khokher. Khokher said Jawaid, who passed away a few days ago in Jeddah, was a very noble and honest person. He always took great interest in social welfare works. He recalled services that he rendered for the cause of education, humanity, religion and welfare of the Pakistani community. He announced that the Consulate General Pakistan will provide full cooperation and support to continue his mission of education and social welfare activities for the Pakistani community. Journalist Arsalan Hashmi read out the message of Tariq Mashkhus, editor-in-chief of Urdu news, in which he also praised the services and kindness of Jawaid by helping the needy people of the community.
Host Mumtaz Kahloon said: “I was with Masood Jawaid since 1990 and I learned a lot from him about different social and cultural innovative services for humanity.” Retired lieutenant colonel Ali -Al-Zahrani said: “He was a sparkling personality whose light positively impacted and touched everyone with whom he was in contact. I will miss him.” Other speakers at the gathering who shed light on the life and social services of Jawaid were included Zulqarnain Ali Khan, general manager of Zultec; Aijaz Ahmad, principal of Gharnata School; Abdul Ghafoor Ameen, renewed Saudi businessman; Perves Yousuf, senior member Pakistan Christian community; Dr. Amjad Obaid, senior member of Pakistan Welfare Society (PWS); Minsha Toor, noted businessman; and Chaudhry Mohamed Akram, representative of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz group (PML-N). They said his absent left a huge space. His loss was irreparable and he made an unforgettable mark in the social circle of Pakistani community. Poet Zamarrud Khan Saifi, recited his poem on Jawaid. Renewed anchor and member of Aalami Urdu Markaz, Aamir Khursheed conducted the meeting. At the end supplications were made for his family, relatives and Jawaid.
