JEDDAH — The Traffic Department has said students who joyride could be imprisoned and fined. Head of Jeddah Traffic Police Maj. Gen. Waslallah Al-Harbi said students caught joyriding will be allowed to complete their examinations and will be subpoenaed after the exams to face trial. He noted joyriders' cars would be confiscated for 15 days and offenders would be fined SR1,000 for the first time. If they reoffend, they will be referred to a court and possibly imprisoned, their cars will be confiscated for two months and they will pay a SR1,500 fine.
