TABUK — The Directorate of Traffic monitored cheating and other offenses in driving schools around the Kingdom. A police spokesman said Director General of Traffic Police Maj. Gen. Abdulrahman Al-Meqbil met with owners of the offending driving schools, and stressed that it is mandatory to abide by the rules and regulations, or face dire consequences. The schools violations included the lack of properly equipped cars, a failure to administer medical examination, as well as a failure to properly train truck drivers. In addition, trainees were not provided with the necessary information on tires, cooling and electrical systems. Furthermore, some cases wherein trainees passed driving tests after paying bribes were registered and referred to the concerned authorities. There are 58 driving schools in the Kingdom, and their contracts with the traffic police are renewed every five years.
