JEDDAH – Mayor of Jeddah Hani Aburas on Wednesday inspected the southern Obhur beach development project, the new slaughterhouse in east Jeddah, the recreation park in Dhahban and a number of bridges and underpasses that are under construction in various parts of the city, the Saudi Press Agency reported. Jeddah Municipality spokesman Muhammad Al-Bugumi said the mayor gave directives to municipality supervisors and contractors to redouble their efforts to complete the projects on schedule, intensify monitoring and coordinate work to overcome possible obstacles. Al-Bugumi said the mayor inspected the South Obhur facelift project, which extends for four kilometers from the Marine Sciences Square to Alexandria coast. The project is being carried out in four stages. He said the tour covered the Dhahban recreation park. The green areas in the recreation park reach 14,000 square meters and contain 220 palm trees and 40 coconut trees. The park will have 38 different games for children in addition to a walkway for jogging, separate sitting areas for the youth and families, a mosque, a football playground, car parking and facilities for the disabled. The mayor also inspected the new 50,000-square meter slaughterhouse project in the eastern side of the city and progress of work at several bridges and underpasses.
