JEDDAH – The Bride of the Red Sea will have 75 new parks in three years, according to the Parks and Afforestation Administration in Jeddah Municipality. Work will also start on a marine recreation park in Dhahban on an area of 120,000 sq.m. Besides this, eight squares will be set up: four next year and the remaining four the following year. Jeddah Municipality is also selecting several locations to set up big parks with areas ranging between 7000 and 10,000 sq.m. at different locations in the city. These will include playgrounds and pedestrian walkways. At present there 521 parks spread on a total area of 2,420,351 sq.m. The municipality plans to set up 150 additional public parks in 10 years at the rate of 15 parks per year. Jeddah Municipality has developed and improved a number of streets including Al-Imam Al-Shafei, Al-Tahlia Street from Al-Saif Square to Al-Malik Road, Hamza Al-Barakati Street and Hussein Taher Street. The trees on these streets were replaced with palm trees.
