I am writing with regard to the post "Does sewage in the streets cause coronavirus?" (May 11). Whether or not sewage causes coronavirus, it definitely leads to other diseases. Jeddah municipality is sleeping. There is sewage on the roads, overflowing sewage lines, poor roads and no street lights in many areas of the city. Concerned, Online response II. We have never heard any municipal official talking about the sewage problem. There are many places in Jeddah where raw sewage flows throughout the year. If nothing can be done about it, then at least create an open drainage system like any poor country. By doing that, the sewage would not flow on the roads and we would have less suffering. Abu Ahmed, Online response III. It's not only a matter of the sewage in the streets. Here in Saudi Arabia, sewage is used to water the trees and lawns in parks. That is a health hazard just waiting to happen. Not to mention all the stray cats roaming the city. Something needs to be done before other diseases occur. Jack Stapleton, Online response
