LG Electronics and LG-Shaker open energy, safety center
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 01 - 05 - 2014

RIYADH — LG Electronics Inc. Global and Al-Hassan Ghazi Ibrahim Shaker Co., the sole distributor of LG air-conditioners in the Kingdom, joined hands many years ago to establish LG-Shaker Factory; an air-conditioner manufacturing enterprise that successfully grew into a prominent regional supplier of integrated and eco-friendly residential and commercial air-conditioners.
This unique venture has inaugurated a new state-of-the-art Energy and Safety Center (ESC) in Riyadh in the presence of esteemed government representatives, professionals in the industrial sector and members of the press. Guests were welcomed by Jameel Al-Molhem (Managing Director of Al-Hassan G.I Shaker Co.) and Deuk Soo Ahn (President of LG Electronics Saudi Arabia), in addition to LGSC and Energy and Safety Center senior executives.
The Center, certified by the Saudi Standards Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO) is built on an area of 1,665 square meters and consisted of several test labs: one Sound Test Chamber (for Noise Test up to 15dB), three Psychometric Chambers (for Cooling Capacity and Heating Capacity test up to 180,000btu) and a Reliability Test Room (for Packing test, Rain Test, etc.).
The establishment of the new Energy and Safety Center came as a natural result of LG-Shaker's commitment to corporate social responsibility and the principle of sustainability. The new advanced Center also reflects LG-Shaker's strategy to take the lead, in collaboration with the Saudi government, toward reducing energy consumption which has become a national threat.
LG-Shaker, driven by its concern about consumers' interest and wellbeing, was the first company to implement the new regulations and rules on high efficiency air-conditioner products issued by the Saudi government at the end of 2013.
Before the tour at the opening ceremony Jameel Al-Molhem, Managing Director of Al-Hassan G.I Shaker Co. said: “Al Hassan Ghazi Ibrahim Shaker Company (HGISC) has always believed in the strength and growth of the Saudi economy, hence we continuously invest in the national industrial sector, particularly the manufacturing of A/C products in partnership with the local authorities to reduce energy consumption and ward off its negative impact on the society and the environment.”
He added: “As a group, we pride ourselves with a consumer-centric policy- as our priority is to constantly improve services that cater to our consumers' growing needs and satisfy their aspirations.”
Deuk Soo Ahn (President of LG Electronics Saudi Arabia) said: “Global, tomorrow, energy, humanity and technology are the pillars that LG is founded on — we are focused on continuously investing in smart solution technology by developing laboratories and research centers around the world, in addition to building a lasting relationship along with optimum satisfaction for our customers in every parts of the world.” — SG
