JEDDAH — Bangladesh International School Jeddah (English Section) celebrated the 43rd Independence Day along with fellow Bangladeshis around the globe with huge enthusiasm and patriotic fervor at the school premises here on Tuesday. Messages from the president and the prime minister were read out on the occasion. This year, hoisting of the national flag and singing of the national anthem were synchronized with the world under the “Lakho Khonte National Anthem Program” announced by the government. The most important part of the event was the display of the biggest national flag prepared by any Bangladeshi abroad. The ceremony was graced by the Chairman of the school governing board Kazi Neamul Bashir. He was accompanied by board members Vice Chairman Dr. Jalal Uddin, head of education Amir Mohammad Feroz and head of finance, Gulam Sarowar. Kazi Bashir said it was commendable that the school commemorated the sacrifices made by the great martyrs of 1971 by hoisting the national flag synchronizing with Bangladesh local time when the entire nation was singing the national anthem. He expressed his deep gratitude to all the freedom fighters of 1971 and also thanked to the organizers of the event. Jalal Uddin said the whole nation was proud for all the freedom fighters of the country who sacrificed their valuable lives in the 1971 independence war. He said: “I hope the students of BISJ-ES will lead the nation in future with true patriotic spirit." In Riyadh, special prayers were offered for the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and members of his family and for all the valiant freedom fighters for their sacrifices during the War of Independence. Ambassador Md. Shahidul Islam highlighted the significance and spirit of the National Day. He underlined the need for renewing the commitment to remain united and make concerted efforts for the socioeconomic development of Bangladesh. The ambassador thanked the Bangladeshi expatriates for participating in the economic development of Bangladesh by sending remittances through official channels.
