With reference to the article “CCTV cameras in schools improve discipline” (Feb. 22), installing CCTV cameras in school is a major step to control school activities in campuses and other places of gathering. As they say “cameras never lies” and our society is well aware of this. I am sure the last thing our youth want is to be caught on camera doing nonsense. It's better to spend the money on training teachers and a creative curriculum that would encourage the school community to enjoy teaching and learning and shy away from dangerous behavior. Ramon Mohamed, Online response III. Discipline starts at home and, as such, parents have the responsibility to teach their children good conduct and behavior within and outside the house. Schools are responsible for reinforcing such learning that begins at home. The CCTV camera is only a tool to monitor people's movements in and around the building. It cannot educate students on appropriate demeanor. Machines cannot replace humans in doing the job of a disciplinarian. Joey, Online response
