JEDDAH — Tamer, Hyderabad Green and ARM scored wins in the 6th week matches of the Premier Division CKB-T20 League sponsored by MoneyGram under the auspices of Saudi Cricket Centre and organized by Jeddah Cricket Association.
Tamer beats Desert Warriors by 13 runs. Tamer scored 170 for 7 wickets in 20 overs, thanks to Tamer skipper Anwar Khan who hit 85 off 53 balls (14 fours). He was supported by Syed Mohammad Afroz (34). Left-arm spinner Abdul Quddus 2-15 and Khalid 2-33 bowled miserly to peg them down. Desert Warriors gave a befitting reply but ended at 157 for 7 wickets. Jafar (21), Waseem (28), Abdul Quddus (19), Waqas (18), skipper Muzammil Riyaz (16) and Junaid (15) all reached double figures. Veteran left-arm spinner Karam Ali (2-23) and Anwar Khan (2-26) bowled a fine spell to give Tamer its first taste of win.
Hyderabad Green downed Fancy ACE Travel by 12 runs. Hyderabad Green scored 227 runs for 7 wickets. Amir Wahla scored a quick-fire 64 off 34 balls (3 fours, 6 sixes) and Faisal flogged the bowlers with a scintillating knock of 51 off 21 balls (7 fours, 2 sixes) with good support from Amir Rasheed (35) and Usman (23). Atta Ur Rahman (3-43) and Haroon Abdullah (2-36) bowled well.
Ace Travel gave a solid reply with Adnan Butt equal to the task scoring 66 off 22 balls with 8 fours and 5 sixes. Jawed Ahmed (31), Arsalan (37 — 7 fours) and Sohail (39 — 5 fours, 1 six) gave their team a ray of hope but the team was restricted to 215 for 7 in 20 overs. Zaheer (2-41) and a wicket each for Amir Makki and Burhan enabled Hyderabad Green to emerge victorious.
ARM beat Pak Green by 45 runs. ARM continued its unbeaten streak as it put up a fighting score of 184 runs for 8 wickets. In-form opening batsman Tabraiz continued with his good form by scoring 59 off 31 balls (9 fours, 2 sixes) while his partners lanky Athar Ali (20) and Sami Khan (36 — 3 fours, 2 sixes) chipped in with useful contributions. Pak Green skipper Mohammad Zahid (3-39) and Adnan (2-44) tried their best to contain ARM batsmen.
In reply, Pak Green batsmen seemed to be in a hurry, but wickets tumbled like 10 pins. Mohammed Shahzad (22), Amer Shehzad (32) and Rizwan (21 not out) were among the runs. ARM bowlers bowled sensibly and picked up wickets at regular intervals. Young pacer Saadique Merchant bowled a tight line and length for which he was rewarded with 3-19, while the combined spin of Zeeshan (3-31) and Sami (2-22) did the rest to bowl Pak Green out for 139 in 17 overs. This was ARM's 5th consecutive win and put it in the semifinals with two matches in hand.
