Liquor smuggling foiled at Batha checkpoint

RIYADH — Customs officers at Al-Batha border checkpoint have foiled an attempt to smuggle of 2,244 bottles of liquor into the country. Acting head of Al-Batha Customs Eid Al-Enezi said the bottles were stashed in a hidden compartment of a vehicle carrying 36 calves. Smugglers were resorting to innovative methods to bring liquor and narcotic pills into the country lately, but alert officers at checkpoints were able to see through such plots.
