Some young men write their Blackberry pin codes on their cars and some on the walls of girls' schools or women's rest rooms. Those young men want to make friends with members of the opposite sex and these are the only ideas they can think of. Occasionally, we see young men walking around in malls with their cell numbers printed on their shirts. The reasons behind the spread of such negative practices are the social traditions and norms that prevent those young men from leading a normal life. That is why we see young men who are obsessed with coming up with new ways to contact and meet girls. Of course, those young men do not always do this to have fun. In fact, some of them have serious intentions about the relationship while others only want to break free from social traditions and create a different reality, a new one, so to speak. And some of them just feel bored and fed up with their monotonous lifestyles and want to have a social relationship with a member of the opposite sex. Both young men and women sometimes engage in such practices in order to meet each other. Although unacceptable socially and described as immoral, such practices have become common in Saudi society. Unfortunately, the way we build relationships in our closed society has become distorted. The methods young men and women resort to in their attempt to get to know each other are not logical at all. Maybe we will be able to build a better environment when we realize what we want. Building successful social relationships cannot be achieved in this way.
