DAMMAM — The Board of Senior Ulema has praised a royal decree stipulating punishments for those who participate in hostilities outside the Kingdom or belong to extremist religious or ideological groups. In a statement to Saudi Press Agency (SPA), Secretary General Sheikh Fahd Bin Saad Al-Majed said: “The council appreciates this royal decree that comes in the context of legitimate politics assigned by the country's leadership and the policy based on the religious texts and rules that should be followed, especially as the leader is entrusted with his country's high interests such as the decision of war and peace.” The scholars decided the country's leader only is entrusted to make decisions on the issue of jihad. — SPA
