JEDDAH — Former champion OTS Cargo ACC underlined its supremacy in Division I, while Indian and Indonesian schools earned semifinal berths in the Inter-School Division during the seventh week matches of the SIFF-Western Union Soccer 2013-14 at the Ministry of Education Stadium here recently. In Division II, a prodigal Al-Noor Medical Center YCC drew with Combined Brothers goalless. The 17th league championship, which is being organized by Saudi Indian Football forum (SIFF), is mainly sponsored by Western Union Money Transfer. The Co-sponsors are Nokia, Al-Abeer Medical Group, JNH Hospital, Badr Tamam Polyclinic, VLCC and Zimo Trading. Mohammed brothers, captain Shaaz and Sahal, scored in the first half to power International Indian School Jeddah (IISJ) into the semifinals by blanking Indonesian International School 2-0. Indonesian boys, who also made the semifinal grade on their earlier results, fought back spiritedly in the second half but found IISJ goalkeeper Omar a hard nut to crack. Ansari of Indonesian School won the Player-of-the-Match award. The Div. II match was a fight between misfiring YCC strikers and Combined Brothers' goalkeeper Shareef who made some spectacular saves on the day. Hakeem Karuvanveetil of YCC was adjudged the Player-of-the-Match. In an all-cargo match in Division I, former champion OTS ACC proved too good for ABC Yas as the former champion pumped in four goals without reply. After Man-of-the-Match Emad Naser Shalman headed in the opener off a nice floater from full-back Muneer, Mohammed Shanil made it 2-0 in the 27th minute through a neat pass from coach-cum-player Zaheer. In the second half, Emad provided the spadework for the third goal by Shahad and Sajjad completed the tally through a spot kick. Asghar Mampad and N.C. Salam won the fun games conducted by Western Union and Nokia, respectively.
