NEW YORK — The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia stressed that the protection of blood comes in advance of revenge and justice can be achieved by pardon and tolerance without detracting from the historical reality. The Kingdom's Permanent Representative to the United Nations Abdullah bin Yahya Al-Mo'allemi said in his speech at the United Nations Security Council last night that this principle was reinforced by the founder late King Abdulaziz 'May Allah bestow mercy upon his soul' in his march to unite the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. He highlighted the efforts of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia since it was founded by late King Abdulaziz until today under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and its ongoing quest to achieve international peace and security and resolve local and regional differences. Representative Al-Mo'allemi said that the Kingdom has always sought to achieve security and peace, resolve differences, make efforts for the achievement of this purpose with disputing parties and submit many initiatives, including the Arab peace initiative, which has sought to achieve a just and comprehensive peace between the Israeli authorities and Arab countries, stressing that the detracting of components of this initiative, such as the non-recognition of a Palestinian state in the borders of the fourth of June, 1967, with its capital of Holy Al-Quds, or questioning the rights of Palestinian refugees to return in accordance with the resolutions of the United Nations or compromising the full sovereignty of the State of Palestine, all of these matters will undermine the foundations of justice and fairness, on which the final settlement of the conflict must be based upon if it will be sustainable.
The Kingdom's Permanent Representative to the United Nations stressed that the Kingdom is seeking in the Syrian crisis to reach a fair settlement for all parties, but any fair settlement must begin with the departure of those who caused the bloodshed of the Syrian people and their hands have been tarnished with committing war crimes and crimes against humanity as it is injustice to have those people in a place for shaping the future of the new Syria. He noted that the Kingdom has been a pioneer in Yemen, Lebanon, Somalia and in many regional conflicts to host all parties to the conflict, contain their demands and seek consensus among them, citing in this regard Taif conference that ended the civil war in Lebanon, the Gulf initiative that helped Yemen and is still helping it to get out from the tunnel of the conflict to the prospects for peace and prosperity, and the Conference of the Elders of Somalia, which was held in Jeddah and was the starting point to resolve the Somali crisis. Representative Al-Mo'allemi added, 'The Kingdom has been trying to work to avoid conflict through dialogue, hence the initiatives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz for dialogue between followers of religions and cultures , including a special meeting held at the General Assembly of the United Nations in 2008 which was followed by the establishment of King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz International Center for Interreligious and Intercultural Dialogue in cooperation with the governments of Spain and Austria. One of the Center's most important achievements recently is the establishment of a network of global policy dialogue with the other including a number of experts and key figures of governmental, political and religious leaders in order to build mutual joint understanding, and promote peaceful coexistence within the cultural and religious diversity , which contributes to finding a joint historic proposition to be substance to a sustainable peace. — SPA
