Mohammad Rasheed Suyat JEDDAH — ALJ Leasing beat KAMC in the 2014 Jeddah Basketball League (JBL) 1st Conference Invitational Non-Rated Basketball Tournament opener at Bin Mahfouz basketball court here recently. Earlier participating teams paraded in their resplendent uniforms during the opening ceremony attended by JBL resident Mohammed Rasheed Suyat and JBL Tournament Director Ibrahim Atienza. Baba Ahmad Peradilla and Bro Fares Diaz of Jeddah Da'awah Center provided the inspirational speech. ALJ Leasing of Ronald Uranza beat KAMC 62-41. The losers tried hard to contain their rival's offense, but like any new team not familiar with the court, it missed important baskets in the final quarter. The winner showed good teamwork to claim its first win. LLamado scored 13 points for the winner and was adjudged the Giordano Player of the Game. Pascua top-scored with 10 points for losers. This tournament is sponsored by Giordano Fashions (Ahmedullah), ABS-CBN - The Filipino Channel, Saudi Signs (Sam Adora) and Al-Haddaf Sportsware (Bayoumi). Another game saw Barangay Fame of Gerry Miramonte beat Al-Ettifaq 43-40. Both the teams from Bahra came in full force and provided the JBL fans with a great game. The winner applied running game in the final quarter. Garcia scored 16 points for the winner and was adjudged the Saudi Signs Player of the Game. Infeliz had 12 points for the losers. Urban Design Group (UDG) of Ariel Acedera rallied to edge Al-Muhaidib 59-57. It was a sea-saw ball game where both the teams played their hearts out. UDG player made a desperate jumper and missed, Alpas, however, got the rebound that he tipped in as the buzzer sounded. Alpas scored 21 points for the winner and was adjudged the JBL Player of the Game. Ostonal led the losers with 21 points.
