Mohammad Rasheed Suyat JEDDAH — The Jeddah Basketball League (JBL) opened its 2013 second Conference Non-Rated Orient Watch Basketball Tournament at Bin Mahfouz basketball court here recently. The participating teams paraded in their colorful uniforms during the opening ceremony which was presided by JBL President Mohammed Rasheed Suyat and JBL Commissioner Joe Dela Cerna. Baba Ahmad Peradilla and Ali Lumanog of Jeddah Dawa'h Center provided the opening prayers. The awards for the Best Team in Uniform was won by Almabani and MTTS, while the Best Mascot accolades went to Leylati, Almabani and Duduts Internet Cafe. Best Muse awards were won by MTTS and Tony's Basketball Team. In the opening game, Leylati of Arif Al-Ayash and Gerome defeated ALJ Toyota Quality Service 83-73. The winner applied good offense in the final quarter. Mandawa topscored with 26 points for the winner and was adjudged the Orient Watch Best Player, LLamado made 26 points for the loser. The major sponsor of this tournament is Orient Watch-Al-Hussaini and Al-Yahya Investment Group (Othman Al-Hussaini). It is also supported by Giordano Fashions (Ahmedullah), ABS-CBN-The Filipino Channel, Flash Cargo (Arnold Dela Cruz), Saudi Signs (Sam Adora) and Al-Haddaf Sportsware (Bayoumi). Defending Champion Almabani of Vic Carreon beat AVK Wild Boys 69-38. The winner showed supremacy in offense in the whole game. Caguioa scored 16 points for the winner and was adjudged the Giordano Best Player. Nabong led the loser with 9 points. Caltex showed heart in the final quarter to halt Tony's Basketball Team 70-59. Reloj topscored with 29 points for the winner and was adjudged the Saudi Sign Best Player. Contreras and Micky Leyva scored 20 and 16 points, respectively, for Tony's Basketball team.
