MAKKAH — The Makkah municipality have removed three million square meters of encroachments in the Al-Husayniah area. The head of the technical department at the municipality, Fahad Hariri, said this was the largest area cleared of encroachments in Makkah. He stated that a report would be submitted to the governorate regarding these encroachments. This report is expected to be referred to police for further investigation. He pointed out the municipality's role was to clear areas of encroachments and stressed residents have no right to ask for reimbursements if they do not have legal deeds to the lands they have occupied. The head of the Al-Aziziyah neighborhood municipality branch, Abdulaziz Al-Saqabi, said the municipality would not hesitate to remove any encroachment from government land. He referred to a recent meeting between the Makkah mayor and officials of the governorate that concluded with the assertion that any encroachments on government land would be removed.
