MAKKAH — Al-Umrah branch municipality in Makkah removed illegal constructions, enclosures and farms on a total area of 40,000 sq. meters of encroached land in the Shumaisy area on Monday. Hassan Khankar, head of the branch municipality, said no leniency will be shown toward land grabbers. He said municipality officials, in cooperation with the security officials, carried out the campaign to remove constructions on encroached land in various areas of the city. The authorities found that some citizens failed to produce title deeds or any other documents showing their ownership of the land, and it was revealed that they encroached government land and made illegal constructions. Ahmed Al-Barakati, deputy head of the municipality, said that the removed encroachments include nine farms and 65 enclosures located behind the demarcation of the Makkah Haram border.
