An important news story our print media ignored was published by Sabaq electronic newspaper on December 21. It said a father who kidnapped his infant baby from his ex-wife was sent to jail. This may be the first time the executive judiciary has jailed a father who kidnapped his child. The result is that the baby has been returned to the bosom of his mother. In my opinion, this is a quantum leap in our country's judicial system. The Justice Ministry should publicly announce this ruling and print it on billboards to be placed at the entrances of courts and all government departments. There have been many cases of fathers who committed similar shameful acts, but were never punished. The Shariah court ruled against the kidnapping father, but never implemented the verdict. The mother would come to court again and again, seeking justice from her husband. She would spend long years in agony and suffering before the court ruled again in her favor. This process could take many long years, during which time the child would have grown up and the ruling would become irrelevant. Now that the Ministry of Justice has introduced the system of executive judges, we expect court rulings to be made quickly and implemented urgently. I wonder if all executive judges will be as firm in their execution of court rules or if they will succumb to the influence of more powerful parties and delay the execution of the ruling. Those who deliberately delay the execution of the ruling of the court should be considered accomplices of the criminals and receive the same sentence.
