Court sentences three men to 35 years in prison, 3,500 lashes

JEDDAH – The General Court in Al-Laith sentenced three culprits to a combined 35 years in prison and 3,500 lashes after they were found guilty of kidnap, rape and semi-premeditated murder of a child.
The main suspect, a man in his 30s, was sentenced to 15 years in prison and 1,500 lashes for kidnapping the child and each of his two accomplices were jailed for 10 years and 1,000 lashes.
The child's father said he would appeal the judgment claiming that the suspects intentionally tried to kill his son after they sodomized him by running over the child with their car. —SG
