MADINA: A Pakistan woman, her four siblings, and her Saudi husband, suspected of kidnapping a newborn baby from a government hospital in Madina will be formally investigated by the Bureau of Investigation and Prosecution Saturday before being referred to court, sources said. Police arrested the couple, the woman's two sisters and two brothers in an apartment in the Kuwaitiah District, northeast of Madina Thursday night. The police followed a lead from a text message sent to the phone of the baby's father by one of the woman's sisters informing him that they left the baby near gardens in the west of the city Wednesday. The investigations, however, did not reveal any previous relationship between the baby's family and the suspected kidnappers, which might have given some indication of the motive for abducting the baby. The sister said she obtained the father's phone number from a website after she knew his name from the newspapers. “Whoever conceals the sins of a Muslim, Allah will conceal his sins in this world and the Hereafter,” the message read. “Your son Anas is behind Al-Bu'aijan Gardens in pink bed clothes, hurry, and when you find him release the news on the Internet so I know. I only did this for sake of Allah's reward, in the hope that you will waive any complaint. May Allah bless you and your family and grant you prosperity.” The kidnapper, however, said she had failed to have a baby of her own after 16 years of marriage and wanted to adopt one. One day prior to the kidnap, she was admitted to the hospital for bleeding from a four-month miscarriage. As she was leaving the hospital Saturday, she saw baby Anas with his grandmother in the hallway right after his birth. The grandmother asked her to call a nurse to attend to the baby. The woman made friends with the grandmother aturday and returned to the hospital Sunday to visit them. When she found them sleeping in the room, she took Anas and left the hospital, she said. She told the ER staff at the hospital that she was carrying her own baby who did not want to breastfeed. She asked them to examine the baby, to trick them into believing Anas was her child. She then managed to sneak through the back door. Her husband was waiting for her outside the hospital. He took her to her two sisters and two brothers, and told them they finally had a new baby boy after 16 years. When the family heard about the kidnapping of Anas in the media the following day, they suspected their sister and her husband and started to question them. She eventually broke down and told them the truth. The family then decided to leave the baby near the hospital and notified the father anonymously. Police found that the husband, the two sisters and two brothers were accomplices in the crime, but ruled out human trafficking. Badr Al-Muzaini, the father of the baby, reiterated Friday that he would not sue the kidnappers when he learned that the woman was motivated by her wish to have a baby after a childless marriage. He dropped his private right to sue both the hospital and the kidnapper, leaving it up to the government to pursue its own course of action. The husband of the woman works as a bus driver transporting pilgrims in the holy city of Madina. One of the woman's sisters works for a dental clinic in Madina.
