JEDDAH — Over 180 paintings featuring the life and achievements of the late Crown Prince Naif Bin Abdulaziz are on display at the Art Gallery in Riyadh. Prominent artist and supervisor of the gallery Abdul Hafez Al-Ghamdi unveiled plans to transform the gallery into a mobile one so as to enable people in all regions of the Kingdom to visit the gallery and watch the paintings showcasing different aspects of the multifaceted personality of Prince Naif. The gallery, which is the brainchild of Al-Ghamdi, will run for one week in each region and then it will be set up permanently in Riyadh. “We have plans to increase the number of paintings up to 520 in order to illustrate the noble deeds of Prince Naif in art form, as well as to get an entry into the Guinness Book of World Records. The initiative was launched in coordination with the Directorate of Prisons and with the cooperation of several prison inmates whose artistic talent has been contributed to drawing several paintings,” he said while noting that talented prisoners have been receiving training in drawing pictures and paintings for several years. The paintings also represent various phases of development in the Ministry of Interior. The gallery was opened by Maj. Gen. Ibrahim Al-Hamzi, director general of prisons, in the presence of senior prison officials and several artists.
