I am writing with regard to the report “Bangladesh to deploy military to stem poll violence” (Dec. 21). Bangladesh's Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina speaking in the print media and on television always says that she will sacrifice her life for democracy and that she wants to ensure that there is real democracy in Bangladesh. She says that she and her government are working night and day for democracy. She also says that she is always against the use of the army, but now she says that she is deploying the army but only for a winter exercise. The world is watching what kind of democracy she is bringing to Bangladesh. Her every action is worse than that of a dictator. In order to stay in power, she is engaging in unlawful acts including extrajudicial killing. Anwarul Kalam, Online response
