With regard to the article "Breaking barriers and opening doors, world marks disability day today" (Dec. 3), it is clear that the disabled face physical, social, economic and attitudinal barriers. However, if individuals in society change their attitude in a positive manner then the other three barriers will automatically be overcome. The disabled need to be met with a positive attitude and unlimited love, and love can improve their condition without medication or other therapy. The purpose of World Disability Day should be to help people develop an understanding of disability issues. We should mobilize support for the dignity, honor, esteem and well-being of the disabled.
