Boy Scouts hone skills at KAEC
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 23 - 12 - 2013

RABIGH — Saudi Arabian Scouts Association recently organized a community development workshop at King Abdullah Economic City.
The workshop included various development and awareness programs as well as a number of social initiatives for members of the Saudi Scouts Association.
The project was organized under the umbrella of the “Messengers of Peace” global program, which is implemented in 150 countries around the world.
The program aims to develop the skills of participants in all fields of scouting. The program addressed the concept and importance of peace, finding solutions to social problems and environmental and health issues, as well as developing a strategy for Messengers of Peace locally and globally.
In addition, the program included developing communication skills, networking and self-development courses.
Outgoing Minister of Education Prince Faisal Bin Abdullah commended the endeavors of the boy scouts and girl guides to serve their communities. He also praised the rapid progress and development of the program, which aims to train scouts and guides from the region on leadership skills and self-discipline, which enhances their sense of belonging and patriotism.
Fahd Al-Rasheed, managing director and CEO of KAEC, expressed his delight in hosting the Saudi Arabian Scouts Association and the teams participating in the workshop.
He said, “KAEC is an integrated socio-economic city and it is not limited to attracting investments and the development of various industries, but is also committed to the development of national cadres and motivating them to participate in various social activities that will benefit them psychologically and physically.
“The Saudi Arabian Scouts Association is the ideal partner for the city to be able to perform its role in social responsibility to the fullest."
Thanking KAEC for hosting the workshop, Dr. Abdullah Bin Sulaiman Al-Fahad, vice president of the Saudi Arabian Scouts Association, said KAEC's support for the Messengers of Peace program comes as no surprise, since the city owns many initiatives and embraces programs aimed at the development of the Kingdom's youth.
The program was conducted over five sessions. Dr. Tarek Al-Oudah participated in the session on self-development, confidence-building, motivation and persuasion skills. Dr. Jameel Fallata and Dr. Hammad Al Hammadi presented the session on "The Mechanisms of Development, Implementation and Following Up".
The program included visits to poor families for distributing food baskets and performing home maintenance.
