I am responding to the letter "Unemployment and Saudi job ethics" (Dec. 22). I agree that it is not just about creating jobs for Saudis that should be considered. What is more important is the Saudi citizen's work ethics. If you look at developed countries like China or Japan and take some lessons on how they motivate their employees and what facilities they provide to them, the unemployment problems here can be solved gradually. Over the years, Saudi youths have been made to think that they are superior than anybody else. That's the main reason why most of the youths don't want to take menial jobs. You have to undo and redo this kind of thinking. All these plans about Saudization have been done without thorough studies and back-up plans. The labor authorities should have waited for a while and trained the graduates to make them suited to the jobs available. Moeed, Online response
