Nadia Al-Fawwaz Saudi Gazette ABHA — Five female students have been expelled from King Khalid University (KKU) after they reportedly started riots and hurled empty glass bottles at students and supervisors. The KKU committee made the decision after the students caused disruption to work and classes on campus for several days. The students reportedly rejected the administration's attempts to resolve the situation. The rioters were protesting against the food provided by the canteen and the way some supervisors allegedly treated students. They also demanded the university release their monthly stipends. The majority of students spoke against the way the troublemakers voiced their opinion and even filed complaints with the administration asking for a swift solution. They criticized the rioters for using plastic knives and turning the whole canteen into a mess. The supervisors were also upset with the behavior of the students. In a statement issued Sunday, KKU confirmed several students were under investigation because they tried to create trouble on campus. The final penalty for them will be set once the committee has listened to their statements, the university said. Such acts are completely unacceptable, said the statement, which also urged students who have complaints to comply with proper bylaws and procedures in place.
