Saudi Gazette report RIYADH — Renowned Muhaddith (interpreter of Hadith [the sayings of the Prophet peace be upon him]) and King Faisal Award winner Dr. Mohammad Mustafa Azmi recently launched a Hadith presentation prepared by Mohammad Najeeb Qasmi. Addressing the gathering, Dr. Azmi said in the beginning he felt the Orientalists were writing against the Holy Qur'an and Hadith because of their ignorance. “But after 50 years of experience I have found that actually this is to clearly mislead the Muslims.” Dr. Azmi, who is from Azamgarh in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, graduated from Darul Uloom Deoband and obtained his MA from Al-Azhar University, Egypt and doctorate from Cambridge University, London. He was a Professor of Hadith terminology in Umm Al-Qura University, Makkah and King Saud University, Riyadh. Various Hadith books were published after his research. At the same function, Padma Shri Prof. Akhtarul Wasey, director Zakir Hussain Institute of Islamic Studies, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi, launched “Islahi Mazameen,” penned by Mohammad Najeeb Qasmi, and an electronic book “Akhbarut Tanzeel” about forecasts of the Qur'an and Hadith by freedom fighter and Sheikhul-Hadeeth late Mohammad Ismail Sambhali (grandfather of Mohammad Najeeb Qasmi). Prof. Wasey congratulated Qasmi for doing such scholarly works from time to time and said that such work should be done in other languages also.
