Abdullah Al-Qarni Okaz/Saudi Gazette RIYADH – Six people suffocated to death while six others from the same family were injured in a fire in a residential apartment here early Sunday morning, according to official spokesman of the Civil Defense in Riyadh Capt. Muhammad Bin Jubail Al-Hammadi. The cause of the fire is being ascertained. But according to initial findings, the fire started in a room and spread through sponge furniture. It trapped all 12 family members. The family was asleep except for the young children. Al-Hammadi said eight rescue, three firefighting, three ambulance and three evacuation teams took part in fighting the fire and in rescuing and evacuating the trapped family. One person was burnt in the face and her condition is unstable, said Al-Hammadi.
