Saeed Al-Khotani Saudi Gazette RIYADH — The Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC) has signed a SR7 million strategic partnership agreement with the Disabled Children Association where it will sponsor 20 disabled children and cover their medical and education costs for five years. The agreement was signed by Prince Saud Bin Abdullah Bin Thunayan, chairman of SABIC and the Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu, and Prince Sultan Bin Salman, chairman of the Disabled Children Association, in the presence of Mohamed Al-Mady, SABIC vice chairman and CEO, on the opening day of the three-day Saudi Exhibition for the Requirements of Persons with Disabilities at Riyadh Exhibition Center. Commenting on the agreement, Prince Saud said: “SABIC has been a keen supporter of the Disabled Children Association in line with its national duty toward these children and to integrate them into mainstream society. “This agreement opens a window of unlimited possibilities for these children to demonstrate their true potential.” Prince Saud praised the Disabled Children Association's efforts to help these children and create a new social life for them. These efforts not only enable them to be self-sufficient, but also to participate in community development programs, he said. The exhibition highlighted the social responsibility programs undertaken by public and private sector companies and displayed state-of-the-art equipment and tools for caring for disabled people, particularly in terms of their rehabilitation, mobility and daily living. It focused on the importance of the contributions of disabled persons to the community and the need to change stereotypes about them.
