LG to launch world's first largest, slimmest curved TV in Kingdom
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 25 - 10 - 2013

JEDDAH — LG Electronics, a global leader and technology innovator in consumers electronics, is ready to launch its world's first largest and slimmest 55-inch curved organic light-emitting diode (OLED) TV in the Kingdom.
A stylish addition to the company's next generation TV line-up, the new model of LG curved OLED TV features an elegantly understated frame that incorporates the powerful yet unobtrusive canvas speaker. The unique design and impressive audio capabilities of the curved OLED TV complement LG's industry-leading OLED TV line-up. The curved oled TV is an eye-catching statement of LG's excellence in television technology and design.
Dubbed the “ultimate display technology”, the new OLED TV has received several awards, including a Silver International Design Excellence Award from the Industrial Designers Society of America and a European Display Achievement accolade by the EISA Awards.
“In the history of television, there have been very few innovations as impactful as the coming of the OLED TV,” said John Lee, president of LG Electronics-Saudi Arabia.
“We say ‘the ultimate display' when describing this TV because the picture is truly above all expectations of the Saudi customers and beyond everyone's imagination," said B. W. Park, Managing Director of LG distributor United Yousef Mohammad Naghi Company.
Jin Kook Kim, CE Product Manager of LG Electronics in Saudi Arabia, says: "Unlike LCD or LED displays that require backlights, OLED TVs generate their own light, eliminating the need for backlighting. The advanced external composition of LG OLED TV's casing gives it a thickness of only four millimeters. Integrating LG's Cinema Screen design with its barely visible bezel gives the OLED TV an ultra-modern, minimal profile that reduces visual distractions, helping deliver a truly immersive 3D viewing experience."
He added: "The curved LG OLED TV comes with different setup options, including a versatile floor stand, a floating table stand, and a wall mount to provide customers with greater interior decor flexibility to complement any interior space. We believe Saudi consumers will enjoy the natural color of curved OLED TV picture quality."
OLED TVs can make images 50 percent sharper and colors 20 percent brighter than the current liquid-crystal-display (LCD) models. It has the same full high-definition resolution as the LCD displays (1920 x 1080 pixels), or two megapixel as the Full HD TVs.
LG is confident of boosting its market share in Saudi Arabia with the launch of 55-inch OLED 3D TV.
LG's curved OLED TV combines the company's industry-leading Cinema 3D technology with Smart TV capabilities, creating the most immersive and comprehensive home entertainment experience in the market today.
The success of LG curved OLED TV in Saudi Arabia will be the key of its 2014 business, and customers support is highly required, the company said. — SG
