Federation Cup badminton tournament a big success

DAMMAM — The 17th Federation Cup Invitational Doubles Badminton Tournament, organized by Badminton Federation Saudi Arabia (BFSA) in collaboration with Rastanura Badminton Group, Aramco, came to a successful end at Najma & Radhwa indoor courts here recently.
Nearly 450 players from Riyadh, Eastern Province and Bahrain competed in this mega event. The tournament was conducted in 8 levels from beginners to professional players in the men's section, 5 levels in ladies' section and 6 levels in combination category. The matches maintained a very good standard.
Expatriate players from India, Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Canada, US, China, Pakistan and Egypt took part in the two-day event.
In the men's Premier Flight final, Fahad Khalid and Renin Alex Wilson were declared winners as the opponents from Bahrain, Suneet Sebastian and Togy Mathew, conceded the game due to an unexpected injury during the first game. In the Championship Flight, Mohammed Aslam and Abdul Rahim K. edged out Shafik J.S. and MK Ahmed Mohiuddin. In the Combination final, Koh Liang Pheng and Shan Osorio beat Vincent Roy and Erika Martizana in a well-fought match.
BFSA President George PuthenMadhom congratulated the winners and runners-up and thanked the sponsors for their support.
Buainain Abdulaziz M., Recreation Services Adviser of Aramco Rastanura, had been instrumental in hosting this event at Najma indoor courts. RTBG President Suresh Lakshmanan and Vice President Mohammed Afzal Langah, along with their office bearers, lent key support to make this event a grand success.
The major sponsors of BFSA for the year 2012-2013 were Sinmar Group, Delmon, Hempel, Eram group, BASF Saudi Arabia, Ajab Faleh Al-Qatani, Tamimi Industrial Services, Dadabhai-Optima Trading, MGA Trading & Azmeel Travel Agency. The trophies for the winners and the runners-up were presented by the major sponsors and BFSA executive council members.
