RIYADH – Prince Khaled Bin Bandar, Emir of Riyadh region, opened King Abdullah Park in Malaz district here on Wednesday. The inaugural function was also attended by Deputy Emir Prince Turki Bin Abdullah, Riyadh Mayor Abdullah Al-Muqbil, and several other senior officials, business leaders and citizens. Prince Khaled and Prince Turki toured the park, spread over a total area of 318,000 square meters with a green cover of 150,000 square meters. He said that the park is a gift from Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah to the people of Riyadh. The project was implemented by the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs, and the Riyadh Mayoralty, and that was in line with the directives of Crown Prince Salman Bin Abdul Aziz, Deputy Premier and Minister of Defense, two and a half years ago. The Emir has ordered allowing permission of two days for youths and five days for families to visit the park during a week. The park has five main entrances and houses several gardens, children's parks, rest areas for families, sports areas, walkways, seating areas, and a 1,700-square-meter restaurant. Other attractions included a large lake, a dancing fountain equipped with laser technology, amphitheaters, an open area for conducting shows and events, and a Saudi flag post of a height of 37 meters. The park also houses a building on an area of 1,160 square meters to hold events.
