RIYADH — International Indian School Riyadh (IISR) defeated Delhi Public School (DPS) 2-1 to clinch honors in the Riyadh Zone Championship of the Peevees Cup Football Tournament 2013 at the Wadi Hanifa Stadium here recently. Champion IISR and runner-up DPS have thus qualified for the Inter-Zone Championship to be conducted in November. They await the qualifiers from Dammam and Jeddah for the grand finale. In the loser's final, host Al-Yasmin International School defeated New Middle East International School 2-0 to secure the second runner-up position. Children braved the heat and played scintillating football to the joy of the energetic crowd and enthusiastic supporters. A.M. Ashraf, General Manager of Peevees group of schools in the Kingdom; S. Padmini, Academic Director, Peevees Group; S.M. Noushad, Group Manager; Dr. Shoukath Pervez, Principal, IISR; and other dignitaries attended the closing ceremony. Ashraf reiterated the importance of sports. Dr. Shoukath congratulated the Peevees Group for organizing the tournament where sports and games help the children to grow and develop physically and mentally.
