Saudi Exchange student in US shot during robbery

EVANSVILLE, IN/HENDERSON, KY USA — A shooting in Evansville. Indiana turned into a police chase that ended in Henderson, Kentucky.
25-year-old Justin R. Brewer is accused of shooting Saudi Arabia Exchange student Mohammad Aal-Naser, driving away in the his car before crashing it during a high speed pursuit.
Officials say they were called to 1224 Shiloh Square on Saturday after they received reports of shots fired at the Addison Place Apartments in Evansville.
Police say Brewer knocked on the victim's door, pretending to show interest in buying his Dodge Challenger. Brewer then forced his way into the apartment, shot Aal-Naser in the head and drove off in his car.
Authorities say the victim is a foreign exchange student from Saudi Arabia who is attending the University of Evansville. He's in stable condition.
“It looks like he's going to be fine,” said Detective Brent Melton with the Evansville Police Department. “He was obviously shook up, but he was talking, alert.”
Officials chased the suspect through Evansville, down Highway 41, and over the Twin Bridges into Henderson.
Police say that's where Brewer rear-ended another car, lost control of the stolen car and crashed into a telephone pole, knocking it down to the ground, in the 3100 block of Green River Road.
One of the victim's neighbors, who say's he has only been living in the apartment complex for a week, believes an incident like this is rare.
“This is the first time I've heard of anything like this happening in this city,” said Mustafa Alhashin. “I hear of things happening outside of Evansville, but I was not scared because things happen. I don't feel any different, if anything happened to my neighbor, it doesn't make me feel any dangers.”
Brewer was taken into custody by Henderson Police and transported to the Henderson County Detention Center for the following charges:

* Fleeing and Evading Police, 1st degree (motor vehicle) Receiving Stolen Property over $10,000.
* Leaving the Scene of an Accident Operating on Suspended
* Operators License Criminal Mischief, 1st degree.

While Brewer is answering charges in Henderson, he is still awaiting on charges in Evansville. — Agencies
