Abdulrahman Al-Ali Saudi Gazette JEDDAH — A gang of Eritrean men has been arrested by Jeddah Police for allegedly robbing several taxi drivers of their cars. Their latest victim, a Pakistani cabbie, provided officers with information that helped in the suspects' arrests. The driver told police that five men hailed for him to stop and he took them to a street in the city's Al-Bawadi neighborhood. When he arrived at the address, he was assaulted and robbed of SR3,000 before they fled the scene. They threatened to attack him again if he reported them to police. Police dispatched officers and undercover agents to various locations where the attacks and thefts took place. A man in his 20s was put under surveillance because he matched the Pakistani driver's description. Police agents followed him and arrested him with the other suspects. The driver identified them in a police lineup. Meanwhile, a black man was arrested for allegedly making and selling liquor. Two police officers became suspicious of the man's activities on a street in Makkah and kept a close eye on him. Police said he was holding a bag in his hand full of liquor bottles and was caught while selling his products in the street.
