Saudi Gazette report NAJRAN – Relatives buried the victims of last week's gruesome murders in Sharourah on Friday while the alleged perpetrator remained in prison, according to Najran police spokesman Lt. Col. Abdullah Al-Ashwi. The circumstances that led to the crime are still being investigated. Neighbors were shocked when they learned that the man had killed his wife and four children in cold blood at their family home. The woman's sister said her brother-in-law could have been a victim of black magic as he was under an "evil spell" when he slit the throats of his wife and children. She said he had been taken to several sheikhs after he had shown signs of being "possessed." She said he did not have any history of mental illnesses and he had been "very nice to my sister. He was crazy about his children and would do anything to make them happy. "My sister lived with him for six years and never complained about anything. We are still in complete shock.” Salih Al-Disaimani, director of the Ministry of Islamic Affairs in Najran, said if a judge found the man guilty and sentenced him to death, then he would be executed even if the victims' relatives forgave him and accepted blood money. Al-Disaimani confirmed that the man was not a Saudi but had applied for citizenship. People who knew the man said he loved his children immensely and he would do anything to protect them. He never denied them anything and bought them whatever they wanted. A shopkeeper said whenever the man brought his children to the grocery store, he never said no to anything they wanted to buy. A neighbor said the father never wanted to see his children cry and he would get angry if anyone, including relatives, touched them. The neighbors and relatives said they were at a loss to understand how such a loving father could kill his children and their mother in cold blood.
