Dr. Sayed Ziauddin JEDDAH — ALJ Toyota defeated Al-Mazroi-XI by five wickets in the final to clinch the Hyundai Naghi Morning Tournament Championship crown. The tournament was organized by the Western Province Cricket Association (WPCA) and sponsored by Hyundai Naghi. Al-Mazroi opting to bat first scored 142-8 in 20 overs. Skipper Sufiyan Laheri hammered four sixes and three fours to compile 53 off 28 balls, but it was disaster at the other end as none could stand for long against the ALJ bowlers. Farooque later managed to add 34 as none other could cross the double digit mark. Arif grabbed 3-16, Tanveer 2-13, while a wicket each went to Imran and Rizwan. ALJ Toyota was home scoring 145 for the loss of five off 98 balls. Imran Rana a consistent performer with the ball and bat throughout batted magnificently to score 54 (5x4 and 2x6), whereas Basheer added 49 and Zahid 15. Sufiyan Laheri excelled with the ball as well to scalp 2-19 as Farhan and Mobeen took one each. Imran Rana was adjudged the Man-of-the-Match. Attaurrehman and Saleem officiated the match. Summer Morning Cup The WPCA Summer Morning Tournament, sponsored by Hyundai Naghi Company, began with 20 teams in the fray. The teams have been divided into two groups and will play in the round-robin league. In the opening match, Hala Academy White beat QRCC by 10 runs. Batting first Hala made 153-9 with Jahanzeb making 37, Zahoor 28 and Adil 19. Yasir took 3-17 and Abdulrauf 3-28. QRCC could score only 143-9. Skipper Saleem Shaikh top-scored with 43, as Zaffer added 32 and Zahid 18. Furqan took 3-17.
