Nasir Mehmood Abbasi RIYADH — A record number of 62 teams will kick off Riyadh Cricket Association (RCA) 2013-14 season with a T20 tournament Friday. The tournament is being sponsored by American Express, Saudi Arabia. In all 60 teams will be participating in the American Express T20 Cup, divided into four zones — Al-Kharj Zone, Huraymala Zone, Riyadh Zone and Al-Qassim Zone. A total of 142 matches will be played in the T20 tournament. The final will be played on Friday, October 25, 2013. Al-Kharj Zone comprises: Pak Shaheen, Amir Holidays, Lahore Lions, KFSH Blues, Lahore Badshah, Shuraim, Stallions, CKK, Saudi Jaguars and Punjab Lions. Huraymala Zone consists of: Lahore Cricket Club, Riyadh Warriors, Royal Academy of Cricket, Yusafzai CC, Pak Eagles, Hyderabadi Warriors, Fuchs CC, KFSH Knight Riders, Crescent CC, Thales CC, Riyadh Fighters, Falcons CC, Sulaiman-XI, KFSH Green, Green Bangla, Star XI, Al-Momen International School and Pak Force. Riyadh Zone includes: TBCC, Majlis-e-Pakistan CC, Pak Fighters, Pakistan Falcons, Delhi Dare Devils, Imran-XI, Royal Strikers, Friends-XI, Kashmir Gymkhana, Rawdah Heats, Lahore Badshah Green, Kashmir-XI, Tigers, AK CC, Kingdom Warriors, Punjab Stars, Grundfos, Nouman Gymkhana, Pakistani Strikers and Riyadh Royals. Although Indian Strikers and Seham CC are also registered, they are not participating in the T20 Cup. Al-Qassim Zone teams are: Pak-XI Unaizah, Sialkot Stallions, Shaheen-XI, Bismillah-XI, Al-Fateh-XI, Azad-XI, Janbaz-XI, Chaudhry-XI, Pak Apex CC, Friends-XI, Paradise-XI and Bangladesh-XI. RCA president Tariq Javed and CEO Nadeem Babar thanked the teams for showing confidence in the association. They also thanked American Express for their support in promoting cricket in the region besides lauding the efforts of the RCA Executive Committee.
