MADINAH — A three-year-old child died when he choked on a piece of candy in Khaybar governorate. The candy apparently blocked his air passage and caused a heart failure. Madinah police spokesman Col. Fahd Al-Ghannam said police were notified by Khaybar General Hospital of the child's death. Investigators visited the emergency unit of the hospital and reviewed the case with the doctor in charge. The child's parents were questioned. The father said his wife informed him that the child had swallowed a candy and was not breathing. They both tried to dislodge the candy from the child's throat, but were unsuccessful. They rushed the child to hospital, but he died en route. A medical report confirmed the cause of death. The child's body was kept in the mortuary pending a forensics examination.
