JEDDAH — Police arrested six foreigners who allegedly burgled homes and shops in several districts of central and south Jeddah. The police detectives set up several traps for them. The suspected leader of the ring was apprehended first, leading to the arrests of others in their hideouts in various parts of the city. The men allegedly snatched women's handbags and mobile phones at various locations. The gang used people who were very skilled in snatching valuable items, said spokesman for Jeddah police First Lt. Nawaf Al-Bouq. Apart from burgling homes and shops, they stole cars and used them in their operations or for vehicle parts. The men were cautious in keeping all their activities secret, said Al-Bouq, adding that they did not allow outsiders into their group. The men were arrested after detectives managed to track them down. Al-Bouq said the six men, all of them of African origin, are implicated in 22 thefts while investigations continue to determine whether they were involved in other crimes in the city.
