Jeddah Police arrested an Afro-Asian gang involved in 60 incidents of theft, pick-pocketing and snatching of mobile phones and handbags from pedestrians. The gang comprised five members of African nationalities who used to sell their loot to four Asians who in turn used to sell the goods to others. The gang was kept under surveillance and arrested following thefts at several mobile shops in Jeddah, in addition to incidents of snatching mobile phones from pedestrians. Apart from that, many cars were stolen or had their windows smashed so that the gang could steal whatever they could find inside. Agents of the Criminal Investigations Department, on duty in the markets in the north and south of the city in which the thieves used to sell their loot, spotted five Africans entering a mobile shop with bags full of mobile phones. The salesman paid them and took the mobiles, after which the police nabbed the gang members. Investigations led to other salesmen who used to buy the gang's loot, and they also revealed incidents of car thefts and the burglary of shops. Police spokesman Musfir Al-Ju'aid said investigations are underway to discover the gang's activities.
