MAKKAH – A 12-year-old boy drowned canal in Laith governorate while swimming with his friends near a man-made canal in Al-Ghala town. His friends said the boy suddenly disappeared from sight. They immediately reported the incident and Civil Defense and Border Guard officers arrived at the scene to search for the boy. Professional divers found the boy a few meters away from where he was swimming with his friends. The canal had been dug by a national company and was left unsecured despite the dangers it posed to residents.
