JEDDAH — Fyunka (Arabic slang for ribbon bow) is a Middle Eastern styled brand, which is a young and evolving enigma. Saudi fashion blogger and designer Alaa Balkhy crafted the fashion accessories line in Jeddah. The Ramadan line carries a closer to home Khaleeji feel and traditional appeal to Fyunka designs, using oud, burqaa, and Arabic phrases as inspiration. Oud, mini abaya and burqa pillow covers, among other summer favorites like the PVC Kohl bag, make for loveable Ramadan gifts this season. Their summer collection includes new PVC, canvas bags, pouches, clutches, teal bags, pillows, domes, notebooks, and totes. “There are three new designs that have different sizes. The new PVC framed clutches are light bags that can be carried as sling bags or clutches.” Fyunka's fashion line is designated to meet everything a girl needs. Describing her pop-culture, Arabic infused brand, fashion blogger Balkhy said: “I wanted the brand name to be in Arabic and I love how adding a bow to something can make it prettier. “I relied on my graphic design skills to create the logo myself, relieved that I didn't need to hire someone and could save a bit of money.” Her illustrations were initially shared on social networking sites where they received tremendous hype and got featured in various Middle Eastern blogs and magazines. PAPERMOON, the world's leading gift-wrap Company, recently collaborated with local artists giving artists and customers a unique concept, Fyunka, of course being one of them. The Fyunka collaboration is available in each of their seven stores in Jeddah, Riyadh, Khobar, and Bahrain. Fyunka's new collection is available at various boutiques and online stores where Fyunka is stocked.
