JEDDAH — Saudia Aviation of Andrew Masongsong beat Marhaba 74-63 in their do-or-die battle for the last semifinal seat at Bin Mahfouz basketball court here recently. The winner took control of the game in the final quarter, while Marhaba tried its best to contain their offense but lost steam in the end. Estrella had 20 points for the winner and was adjudged the Giordano Player of the Game, while Creencia scored 15 points for the loser. The tournament is being sponsored by Giordano Fashions (Ahmedullah), ABS-CBN - The Filipino Channel, Saudi Signs (Sam Adora), Al-Haddaf Sportsware (Bayoumi) and Arabian Food Supplies Catering Division (Ahmad Miri). In another game, Taqwa Brothers Green of Abdulaziz Yu beat Sabr Brothers Yellow 81-75 in the Jeddah Dawah Center Inter-Color division. Abdulhady scored 21 points for the winner and picked up the JDC Player of the Game honor, while Jameel Islam Lumanog had 24 points for the loser. Jeddah Eagles of coach Hassan defeated Uptown 966 75-64 to advance to the Group A final. Jeddah Eagles was ahead all the way, but had some close calls in the final period before finally seizing control of the game. Alfred scored 31 points for the winner and was adjudged the JBL Player of the Game. Condeno scored 23 points for the loser. Almabani of Vic Carreon beat ALJ Used Cars 94-91 advance. Almabani displayed heart in the dying seconds of the game and managed to keep the never-say-die ALJ at bay. A crucial passing error by ALJ handed the game and a spot in the final to Almabani. Caguioa 29 points for the winner and was adjudged the JBL Player of the Game, while Llamado chipped in with 37 points for the loser. JBL, meanwhile, is preparing for the 2013 Second Conference, which is scheduled to begin on June 14, 2013. The tournament is designed for the Non-Rated Weak teams only.
