RIYADH — The Indian Engineers Forum (IEF) - Dammam Chapter organized another training program of Six Sigma – Green Belt & Black Belt — for members as part of their continual growth program. The training was conducted by Anexas Consultancy, an Indian based Company from Bangalore affiliated with Anexas Europe. CEO Amitabh Saxena, who has trained more than 4,000 Black Belts worldwide, welcomed the attendees and while training said that Six Sigma certification is a confirmation of an individual's capabilities with respect to specific competencies. He further said that this enables the certified individual to use tool and techniques to improve processes in any industry, be it manufacturing or services. Six Sigma Certification entails learning the appropriate subject matter, passing a written proficiency test and displaying competency in a hands-on environment. According to the Six Sigma Academy, Black Belts save companies approximately $230,000 per project and can complete four to six projects per year. General Electric (GE), one of the most successful companies implementing Six Sigma, has estimated benefits to the order of $10 billion during the first five years of its implementation. GE first began Six Sigma in 1995 after Motorola and Allied Signal blazed the Six Sigma trail. Since then, thousands of companies around the world have discovered the far reaching benefits of Six Sigma.
Consultants all over the world have developed proprietary methodologies for implementing Six Sigma quality, based on the similar change management philosophies and applications of tools. Saxena congratulated IEF founder member and president of Dammam Chapter Shuja Mohammed Sheriff, and appreciated the contribution being done by the IEF for the development and professional growth of its fellow engineers. Sheriff encouraged its fellow members to come forward and enhance skills through trainings, workshops, seminars and other viable resources. He said IEF is a very strongly bonded technical platform harboring most important activity of professional enhancement. Sheriff further said that engineers have a vibrant passion toward their profession and find every excuse to enhance the quality of their performance. He added that engineers are constantly challenged with technical and philosophical concerns in this fast-paced society.
To meet these challenges engineers always need to refine themselves, redefine their capabilities and be prepared to meet the global challenges. Previous year IEF Dammam Chapter successfully organized a seminar on productivity management using balanced score card, workshop on negotiation skills, training of Project Management Professional (PMP), and seminar on the role of leadership for Engineers. IEF plans to continue to organize more trainings and workshops in near future. The training was attended by Sabah Yusuf, Dhrupen P Shah, John Thomas, Saif Ali Sheikh, Sheriff and other members. Engineer M Z Nadeem, IEF VP public relations, has asked fellow engineers who are not registered to log on to www.ief-ksa.org and register themselves to get updates on trainings, workshops, seminars and other activities of IEF. IEF is a nonprofit professional platform for NRI engineers which has branches in Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam, Yanbu and Jubail.
