Dammam Chapter and the Saudi Council of Engineers (SCE) have recently agreed to foster greater cooperation and coordination among its members. The agreement was reached at a PMP Training organized by the IEF at the Ramada Gulf Hotel Al-Khobar under the aegis of the Anexas Consultancy. Fourteen engineers successfully completed the training and received certificates from Amitabh Saxena of Anexas Consultancy, which is based in Riyadh. Riad Saud H. Qusti, senior officer of Editing & Publishing Media & Investors Awareness at the Capital Market Authority of Saudi Arabia, and Bashar Al-Shehri of the SCE, welcomed the synergy between IEF and SCE and offered his full support to the undertaking. Qusti, in his keynote address, commended the IEF for forming an organization within the Indian community committee not only to professional development but also other socio-economic activities. He urged the IEF to cooperate and coordinate with the SCE as well as with other universities like King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM), Prince Mohammad University (PMU) and Dammam University. Qusti also suggested for engineers to expand their horizons by leveraging social networking websites like Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn to go beyond the GCC and Middle East. He lauded the friendly Indo-Saudi relations and said he had been to India as one of the media representatives during the historical visit of King Abdullah back in 2006. IEF President Engr. Shuja Sheriff said that the Kingdom, with its rapid industrialization, offers the world — and India in particular — technology and products that could change the face of India. He welcomed the Qutsi's suggestions and stressed the need for joint professional development of his fellow engineers with their local counterparts. Sheriff further said it was necessary to enhance professional competencies to keep up with most modern technologies. IEF Vice President Engr. Mohammed Z. Nadeem appreciated the continuous support from SCE, saying he would be coordinating with them for professional development efforts. Prof. Mohammed Muslehuddin, senior research scientist at KFUPM, and Mirza Zaheer Baig, research scientist at KFUPM, commended the activities of IEF. They urged the organization to work toward a more proactive tie-up with the graduates of all the universities in the region and to play a more dominant role in the industry. IEF Chairman Engr. Amir Khan congratulated all successful PMP candidates. Nadeem thanked the guests in his vote of thanks.
